Kindergarten Curriculum
Marking Period 1: • Perform the locomotor skills of walking, running, hopping, jumping, sliding, and galloping, in response to a signal. • Move in self-space and general space, in response to a signal. • Identify one site on the body to find the pulse. • Explain how exercise affects the heart.
Marking Period 2: • Move in relationship to a stationary object, for example, over/under, on/off, near/far, in front/ behind, in response to a signal. • Toss a ball using an underhand motion to self. • Catch a self-tossed ball.
Marking Period 3: • Takeoff and land using a two-foot takeoff to a one-foot landing, a two-foot takeoff to a two-foot landing, a one-foot takeoff to a landing on the same foot, a one-foot takeoff to a landing on the other foot, and a one-foot takeoff to a two-foot landing. • Perform static balances (i.e., frozen statues) without falling. • Identify activities that increase heart rate. • Identify nutritious foods.
Marking Period 4: • Perform a kick using the instep of the foot. • Strike a balloon or lightweight ball using an underhand motion. • Identify behaviors that demonstrate respect for self, others, and the physical education environment.
